The Icelandic Grandmaster Vignir Stefansson returns to the Kronborg Chess Open for the second year in a row and is at his highest level ever. With a rating of over 2550, Stefansson is ready to take on the strong competitors.
Remarkable career
Stefansson, who became the youngest Grandmaster in Iceland, has had a remarkable career. He has not only won the Icelandic championship in both classical and blitz chess but has also made a name for himself internationally. Stefansson continues his progress after becoming a Grandmaster in 2023.

Last year, Stefansson demonstrated his strategic skill and ability to perform under pressure, making him a key player in the tournament. This year, expectations are even higher as he has improved his rating and gained more experience. Last year, he achieved a 4th place in the Kronborg Chess Open, which he aims to improve in this year’s tournament.
